As I listen to Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park,” a stream of reflections flows through my mind. The homeless individuals in Santa Monica, seeking refuge in public washrooms, are also created in God’s image-He must of had a very good reason to do that. Even if I were to contribute a fortune, be it a million or a billion dollars, to alleviate hunger, the harsh reality is that it would not suffice to eradicate global starvation. Poverty, violence, and mortality are persistent plagues that humanity may never fully overcome.
