In regards to Billie Eilish’s new WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? album, I like the song “Xanny,” which was released in 2019. According to my understanding of the lyrics, it’s about irresponsible recreational drug users. With that, let’s get into the lyrics of the song.

When it comes to drug users, I feel these lyrics. Billies lyrics say, “What is it about them? I must be missing something. They just keep doing nothing. Too intoxicated to be scared.” I feel, when you are on drugs, you are a lazy person.

That being said, it’s best to stay away from irresponsible recreational drug users. “Better off without them. They’re nothing but unstable.” Irresponsible recreational drug users can be unstable people, and you don’t want to put yourself in that situation.

When irresponsible recreational drug users are high, they only seem good for one thing: Being a waiter or waitress. Bills says, “Bring ashtrays to the table. And that’s about the only thing they share.” I say, “Hey, waiter, can you bring some water to the table please?”

Plus, irresponsible recreational drug users are selfish. “I’m in their second hand smoke. Still just drinking canned coke.” They don’t care who’s breathing their smoke, which is full of deadly chemicals.

Personally, I don’t need drugs or liqour to feel better. Billie, too, doesn’ need drugs, so she tells us in her lyrics, “I don’t need a xanny to feel better. On designated drives home.”

If fact, I will never smoke weed or take a xanny. Billie sings the same thing, singing, “Only one who’s not stoned. Don’t give me a xanny now or ever.”

Moreover, I agree with Billie’s lyrics, when sing about drug users who are Debbie downers.

“Waking up at sundown. They’re late to every party. Nobody’s ever sorry. Too inebriated now to dance,” sighs Billie.

It seems like irresponsible recreational drug users never learn when it comes to drug use. Billie tells us, saying, “Morning as they come down (come down). Their pretty heads are hurting (hurting). They’re awfully bad at learning (learning). Make the same mistakes, blame circumstance.”

Anyways, nobody wants to hug someone who smells or who is deliberately killing themselves.

“Please don’t try to kiss me on the sidewalk. On your cigarette break. I can’t afford to love someone. Who isn’t dying by mistake in Silver Lake,”  Billie points out.

Therefore, irresponsible recreational drug users can just keep doing nothing, but someday they’ll wake up. “They just keep doing nothing. Too intoxicated to be scared. Hmm, hmm. Hmm, hmm. Hmm, mmm. Come down, hurting. Learning, ” sighs Billie.

In brief, I always listen to this song. I listen to it while hiking through the mountain trails, or when I am just driving. That being said, the song is about irresponsible recreational drug users.  It’s an informative song, which offers the other side of a two sided story about irresponsible recreational drug users.
