Impulse Revisited’s episode “Mind On Fire” serves up a darkly comic blend of teen angst, murder, and teleportation, making it the show you didn’t know you needed for your “high school drama meets crime scene cleanup” fix.

Let’s start with Nikolai, who could probably have a side gig as a crime scene DJ. The guy literally pops on his headphones and starts jamming to Spirit in the Sky while mopping up Bill’s bloody remains. If only all murders could be so chill. But hey, what’s a little post-teleportation homicide cleanup between friends? This episode seems to ask: if you can teleport out of a crime scene without a trace, are you really a murderer? Henry, our angsty teleporting killer, seems convinced she’s not, despite the minor detail that Bill’s lifeless body is dissolving into what appears to be drain cleaner.

Henry’s denial reaches new heights as she starts hallucinating at a school after-party, because nothing says “normal teenage experience” like people chanting “show me your trick” while you’re tripping on weed and pondering your latest kill. But no worries, Henry’s got bigger problems than existential crises—like puking and crying for mommy while Nikolai mops up her mess.

Meanwhile, Townes, our oblivious tech nerd, remains hilariously unaware of his social surroundings at school. He’s like a human antenna picking up every frequency except the one that tells him everyone’s eavesdropping on his secret schemes. But, bless him, at least he’s gathering intel. We all know that’ll come in handy when you’re not exactly winning any physical fights.

All in all, “Mind On Fire” is equal parts grim and absurd, with a dash of teenage self-discovery sprinkled on top of a murder cover-up. If you like your dark dramas with a side of gallows humor, this one’s for you. Just don’t forget to bring some acid—strictly for the cleanup, of course.
