Lately, I go into a depression when I hear the lyrics of “Dust In The Wind” by Kansas.
“All we are is dust in the wind,” sings Kansas.
When I watch this video and listen to the song, I remember my parents when they were alive. I can still see them in my mind. I can still hear their voices and see them smiling. I still can’t believe they are dust, even now Sometimes, it’s hard to believe they were ever real or even if I was real- as strange as that sounds.
Here’s a thought: if everything is dust, these words, too, must be dust. That being said, what is a thought? Are thoughts dust too?
I have learned these lyrics, and they apply to life.
“Everything we do crumbles to the ground,” says Kansas.
These days, it’s hard and these lyrics ring true.
“Don’t hang on. Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky. It slips away,” cries the singer.
As one of the wisest men to live, King Solomon once said “everything is vanity,” and he was right.
“And all your money won’t buy another minute by… Everything is dust in the wind,” warns the singer.
