The Dark Knight

At times, The Dark Knight is a philosophical movie. It touches on beliefs. Also, it gets into the purpose of moral codes in society. As well, it shows the downfalls of materialism. That being said, I’ll briefly discuss these ideas, which stood out to me in the movie. (more…)

Sid And Nancy

Sid And Nancy is a biopic about the last days of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen of the UK’s Sex Pistols. The movie chronicles their destructive relationship, which revolved around the punk rock scene and drugs. Eventually, Sid killed Nancy and later overdosed. When I first saw it, it was ok.

The Little Girl That Lives Down The Lane

In the 70s movie The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane, we meet a mysterious 13-year-old girl, Rynn Jacobs who is played by Jodie Foster. As the movie begins, we learn that she has many secrets. Furthermore, we learn, too, that she lives alone, and she just wants her own home; however, she must deal with bad, dangerous neighbours, the Hallets. Notably, the movie touches on many new social issues that were kept under wraps in the 1970s. Perhaps, most shockingly, Rynn is a monster, a child serial killer.

Bate’s Motel Series Finale “The Cord”

The Bates Motel series finale titled “The Cord” had some deeper, darker meanings. At the end, former sherriff Alex Romero goes down a dark road and Norman Bates kills him. Finally, Dylan kills Norman and goes off happily with his own new family. Though a twisted series, the Bates Motel finale teaches us that the mentally ill can be killed off; furthermore, we can abandon family. Indeed, the Bates Motel series is dark.
